Acadia University's Annual Orchid Display

I think my camera and I have officially made up. I was never really mad at my camera but I felt like I was all out of creativity and inspiration. So to the camera bag for storage my beloved friend went. Sure, for the last 2 years I have brought it out every now and again but we never really got along all the best. But now, we've officially made up and have been making some crazy beautiful love babies. Check out what we came up with a few weeks ago at Acadia University's orchid display.

The orchid display happens annually so keep your eye out for next years event! And isn't Acadia beautiful?! This is only a small part of the campus but it's an utterly beautiful university. Makes me wish I had applied here!

Domincan Republic Circa 2010

Recently I have come down with a serious condition, Wanderlust. It is something I was diagnosed with a long, long time ago but as I have not done any traveling in the last few years it has gotten worse and worse. Therefore, in an attempt to ease a bit of the symptoms, I have gone through photos I took on previous trips and have decided to share some with you.

Our eye and our style is forever changing and growing so going back to take a look at previous work can result in new gems being found. Ready for you to save, polish off and share with the world.

These are my little, rediscovered gems from my trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic with my family for Christmas of 2010.

Am I the only one experiencing Wanderlust this time of year? If money wasn't a problem, where would you travel to?

Inspiration: Alex Beadon + Self Portrait Project

Over the past few weeks I have been finding inspiration in all areas of my life. Everything from books, to nutrition, to photography blogs. One in particular that I have been loving lately is the ever amazing Alex Beadon. Alex is a portrait photographer based out of England. There are a few reasons I love her blog so much but I think the main reason is that even though she is a photographer and it is her photography blog, she posts a lot about her life and where she finds her inspiration. So many photographers out there only post their photos on their blog and barely delve into any other areas of their life. And I guess that is ok if that is all they want to share. They will attract their own type of clientele. But I'm drawn to blogs like Alex's because of how open and honest she is about her dreams, her process and herself in general. Last year she completed a 30 days of self portraits project and I want to attempt something similar. Although I'm not sure I'll be able to do it every day for 30 days I do want to try doing at least two a week. We'll see :)

Here are some of my favorites from her project:

Day 2: Lost in black (Copyright 2011 Alex Beadon Photography blog - source)

Day 5: Offstage (Copyright 2011 Alex Beadon Photography blog - source)

Day 24: Mirror Image (Copyright 2011 Alex Beadon Photography blog - source)
Day 26: Feeling Relaxful (Copyright 2011 Alex Beadon Photography blog - source)
Aren't they just amazing?! She really is a talented photographer. Self portraits are extremely difficult, I speak from experience. The first photo in my self portrait project will be soon. Wish me luck :)

Books and Stuff

November 22

Today was another early morning but for a completely different reason. I woke up around 7am, had a breakfast of a blueberry bagel with almond butter and jam, packed my bags and went to a photoshoot. It was a portfolio session with a local male model. I'll be posting some of the photos on my photography blog in the next few days so keep an eye out.

While waiting for the model to finish getting ready I snacked on a clementine.

After the shoot I stopped into a used book store on the way home. Matt and I go into book stores at least once a week and during the past couple of visits I have been SO close to purchasing Germs, Guns and Steel by Jared Diamond. The reason I haven't is because it is so close to Christmas and I might get gift cards :) I have made a deal with myself that for the next month the only books I am allowed to buy are ones that come from a used book store. So I stopped into this place looking for Germs, Guns and Steel. They didn't have it but I did pick up Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides.

Once I got home I had lunch of fried eggs and meatless Italian sausage. I forgot to take a photo of it though because I was in a rush to get out the door again.

Then off I went to a friend's place to take photos of her pets. She just got a new pug puppy and she is sooo cute. I photographed the puppy and her three cats. Here are some of the photos.

When I got home I had a snack of yogurt with granola and a clementine.

Supper was similar to a previous night but was still just as delicious. I had BBQ baked tofu with broccoli and fried zucchini. I LOVE zucchini. The only other time I can remember eating it was when my mom put it in chocolate cake and you couldn't really taste it. But it is sooooo good. I can't wait to try some new recipes with zucchini in them :)

Dinner was so delicious that when Matt got home he had to try it while I was sleeping and ended up eating all of the left overs! Hehehe.

The rest of the day was just recovering from Friday night/Saturday. Again for some reason I had no energy so it was mostly spent reading and napping. Oh I love lazy Sundays. :)
